Biography

Keen Society formed in December 2012 by what some call fate May. It Consist of one Charlotte native, Matt Poplin, and one northerner, Ren Hawthorne, That eats from completely different backgrounds.

Both artists bring unique sound and Their Own Music that speaks to create Their fans. Their music speaks to Individuals That do not follow the status quo and are striving to implement implementation Their positive changes in life. Keen Society combines many influences and sounds into each track creating what they call Singer / Songwriter & mixed with Pop-Pop and Hip Creates a new version of music for today’s society.

Ren Harriston born Aquinta Hawthorne was born in Paterson, NJ. At the age of 8 following her parents separated so Ren’s mother packed Their bags in the middle of the night and moved from Paterson, NJ to the suburbs of Concord, NC. It was there That she would be inspired by new sounds of Country, Pop, Rock, Blue Grass, and Most other genres of music. Since then she has made it a point to connect with her audience through lyrics.

She Knew That She never wanted to be a single act and set out on a search to find a band matte. Eventually she came across Matt Poplin and together they ‘Keen Society Formed in 2012 They released Their first EP “Chasing Illusions” in August of 2013 and Performed 60 shows in the year of 2013 The year 2014 has brought` new management and new music for Keen Society.

Performed on the main stage at the 2014 Springboard South Festival This past June in Houston, TX. Fans & booking agents loved them!
